Good list - distributive math is the way to go.

Another good numerical rule of thumb, which could involve a little bit of math (maybe even distributive math!), is that your mortgage payment can be estimated at $700 per month for every $100,000 in cost. Not exact, but it is usually reasonably close when insurance, etc. is included.
