By “focusing on quotes” I meant to say the edited review talked ABOUT the book, as opposed to what YOU THOUGHT of it.

I like the longer review you posted here as opposed to the version that actually got published, which seemed to focus only on the quotes you pulled from the book.

Honestly, I probably won’t read the book, but it’s good to know that somebody out there is publishing a journal about the war with a minimum of BS.

It was good to stumble onto your blog. The review of Richard Engel’s book is excellent. Thanks for writing it. I’ve followed his reports of the war from the beginning and have felt he was giving those of us at home a good perspective of what the war and life in Iraq is like. I know it’s only a small picture of what our military is doing but as a 70 year old grandmother,I appreciate the sacrifices all have made. Our nation can never repay you for what you have endured. Thanks for sharing your review. I think we get such a skewed view of what is going on over there, just small bits from the media here and there
