Contraband Beer

Posted by Midnight on April 16th, 2008

It appears that the latest lot of Flying Dog Snakedog India Pale Ale (IPA) contains 7.1% ABV.  Somehow this escaped the attention of Alabama’s tightly controlled alcohol distribution system (we need the government’s help in controlling things like that) and it has been offered for sale in our fair state when the legal limit for beer is a mere 6% ABV.  I bought a half-case from the BP in Five Points when I made my monthly beer run this evening.  No, I didn’t just buy it out of spite.  I bought it because I like this IPA…and to spite the morality-legislating, liberty-opposed, I-don’t-have-to-read-this-bill-to-know-I’m-against-it buffoons in the Alabama legislature.  Free the hops!

When you say free the hops…I cannot help but think of those bumper stickers that say Free Tibet :). What do you suggest people do to help with this cause?

When I said “free the hops,” I meant it quite literally. Visit this site to find out how to get involved.

And no…I am not holding Tibet hostage. :)

Midnight,
I wouldn’t mind some of that illegal brew available here in Tennessee. Death to the hops…

Looks like it is time to make a beer run to the BP… ;-)

Don’t you just love it when a bunch of yackasses tell you how much alcohol you are allowed to have in your beer? Hey I am in Ohio and you can’t smoke in ANY public building, no restaurants, bars, nada. But they just raised the tax on tobacco products. So you enjoy your beer while I enjoy my “illegal” cigarette

It looks like HB196, the Gourmet Beer Bill goes up before the Senate tomorrow. It’s about time they moved past bingo in Macon county.

We’re close…very close. Tomorrow may be the day.
