I don’t know what you thought about Halo 3 but I was a little disappointed. I’m a huge Halo fan but for some reason I didn’t feel that the new maps of H3 during the campaign compared to those of H2 and some of the controls we’re kind of strange. Sorry this has nothing to do with comparing the sales of either one but I figured I would put my two cents in on h3 somewhere.

halo 3, got it, beat it, love it, with half as many boxes the sales of halo will not be disappointing to the gamers, maybe to the retailers, doubt it though. it is the biggest blockbuster in any event, exspecially to gamers. if you have never played your are missing the most epic game ever created. buy them all, play them all, and enjoy the feeling of sticking a plasma grenade to a brutes face before you blast him with the shotgun.

no offense, but i have to say youre wrong ryan barr, graphics its the 4th reason 360 has the success it have today.
i would say 1.- loyalty 2.- was the first next gen 3.-xbox live 4.- graphics 5.- halo.

i would say that, given the subscribers of live, and the fact that halo 3 will end the fight and, more important, that mp has a porven succes, are the major reasons its gonna sell very well, it may not break the sm 3 mark of 155m, but, i think, it certainly will break the halo 2 mark.

I’m in Europe and I think you have to take into the fact that Halo 3 is released over 2 days, North America and Europe being the main two areas over 2 days. The population of Europe is equal to that of USA and Canada. I think your predictions are, happily, very well put to getter and may even be true, but I think you’re going to have to factor in the 2 day effect!! I recon one should consider the days sales in the respective country over the respective one day sales in the next country. i.e. Spiderman was released in one day globally, so was Halo 2, I think!!!

It is hard to say whether Halo 3 will come out on top. Although, I think you missed a factor. Halo was a giant hit on the Xbox, or Microsoft’s first stab at a gaming console. The second version, Halo 2, released on the same console, which had previously already had the first version on its console keeping those same users.

I am personally not sure on the number, but you have to understand that there are those Xbox 360’s that parents bought for their children or were received as gifts, or someone went out and bought without ever knowing about or playing any of the previous two games from the Halo series. The 360 was, and is, a big hit because of its great graphics capabilities and its stunning performance.

You also have another factor, how many of the number of Xbox 360’s that you have numbered that were sold are no longer accurate? Remember when the 360’s first released, there was a giant problem with the power supplies over-heating due to them being inside the casing. How many people got fed up with the problem and returned it for cash? That original purchase is still tallied as a sale of the console in statistic’s eyes.

My speculation will be that Halo 3 will come close, probably between $100-$110M due to two factors that are playing in my head; price and demand. The demand is high because the hardcore gamers will be buying it, the eBay guru’s will be buying it, and the everyday interest in the game will strike as well.

I agree with you though, and I applaud your thinking strategy. Personally I wish I could agree with your speculation (as the soon-to-be owner of the game), I want to see the third in the series take the lead role. Although, I think that you missed the points of returns, new users, and possibly even stock. Will Microsoft produce enough to sell more?

Now, what is your speculation on Halo Wars, the fourth in the series? =D
