Groundhog Day

Posted by Midnight on March 3rd, 2006

It’s as if I can hear Sonny and Cher singing “I Got You Babe” every morning when my alarm goes off. The calendar pages just keep flipping, and I keep wondering where the time went. I can’t believe I have been here almost a month. OK, maybe I can. Regardless, I have been really busy the past few days, which is why I’ve taken a small hiatus from the blog. Stick with me, though, as I may have some exciting news to post about in the near future.

The question is…did George Bush see his shadow?

Thank you for service. Nice blog.

Just wanted to let you know that we appreciate everything you’re doing and thanks for keeping us all updated on what is going on there. Stay safe!

Take as long as you need. We all understand that you have a job to do that comes first over all other things. We just love to hear from you when we can….I know I do !

I’ve never seen this movie, should I?

I sometimes get that feeling of the days melting into each other and the same thing happening over and over, but at least I have the weekends to break things up. Do you guys have some sort of schedule set up to allow anything approximating a day off?

Words can not express our appreciation for your service over there. Enjoy your blog. Be safe.

We are trying to do 1/2 days off on Sunday, if mission allows. As we get more settled we will be able to get a more standardized schedule to allow people time-off. One good thing about working at the team level is that you don’t have a rigid watch schedule like most people here. However, the only real event to break up my week is steak and lobster night at the chow hall. There are no traditional weekends or days-off in OIF.

GHDay is a good movie if you like Bill Murray. I like the movie.

Hey Midnight! Some count down the days by marking off the holidays—so lets see if you have been there a month, you’ve crossed off Valentine’s Day and this month you can cross off St. Patrick’s Day,in April it will be Easter, then Mother’s Day in May, Father’s Day in June….4th of JULY!!…stuck on August—help!!! Ok–looked it up and there is quite a few things going on in August: Frances Scott Key’s Birthday (writer of the Star Spangled Banner)
Ice Cream Sandwhich Day
Root Beer Float Day
Watermelon Day
Coast Guard Day
Peace Day
Mustard Day
Left Handers Day
Rolling Stones “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction” was # 1 Hit
Kiss and Make Up Day (hmmm..related to hit song I wonder?)
Rock and Roll Day..( hmmm..related to Kiss and Make up
Day I wonder?)

So, you see even in a month where you think there is nothing going on—there is!!…..hope this helps to mark off the days!!
